WuhanHome

Wuhan is located in Central China at the confluence of the Changjiang (Yangtzekiang) and Han rivers, about 300 km East of the Three-Gorges dam, 1100 km South of Beijing, 800 km West of Shanghai, 900 km North of Guangdong. The capital of Hubei province is a bustling city of 9 Mio, marked by industry, science and trade. It has several large lakes within its limits, and its cultural heritage includes the yellow crane park near the first bridge across the Changjiang, parks on the lakes, and the Hubei museum showing the rich 5000 years history including a complete set of bronze bells and carillons. Within days reach are the ancient copper mines of Huangshi, the three gorges dam and lake of the Changjiang, and the Wudang Mountain housing several Taoist monasteries that are famous for their education in meditation, martial arts, and medicine. Short visits to local places will be organized during the conference. Please see also the social programs for accompanying persons (will be opened soon). Longer tours after the conference can be booked; please contact the organizing committee (email: ictppo2013@mail.hzau.edu.cn or ictppo2013@gmail.com). We would also be happy to make contact to local travel agencies for additional site-seeing trips after the conference.

We recommend three sight-seeing places for tours (before or) after conference, depending on your time.

(1) Wudang Mountain (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wudangshan). The trip takes 2-3 days.

(2) Shennongjia Natural Reserve (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shennongjia). The trip takes 4-5 days.

(3) Three Gorges (Sanxia) dam and lake (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Gorges) of the Changjiang (Yangtze) River. Including a 3 day boat cruise, the trip takes about a week.

(4) Scenic Area of Yueyang Tower-Junshan islet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yueyang_Tower). It is located in the northeast of Hunan Provice and was enlisted the national Scenic Area and AAAAA grade tourist area of China in 2011. As the national Cultural Protection Unit, Yueyang Tower has a history of 1800 years. When you climb up to Yueyang Tower, you will have a panoramic view of Yueyang city and can feel the sky and water share one color, the wind and moon has no boundary. The trip takes 1-2 days.
